Re: Eddie Van Halen Hovis
This is absolutely dreadful news.

Who was he?

Re: Eddie Van Halen Hovis
DLR made Van Halen, without him, they were just another band, didn't care much for Sammy

Very sad news.Saw Van Halen at the Rainbow in 1982 IIRC.
Dave Lee Roth was a cunt who was a right moody tart but as mentioned they were not as good without him.
R.I.P Eddie

gutted about this. bloke redefined the electric guitar and did it with proper swagger.

65. No age. And the Big C strikes again. I fucking shit that disease. Always thought they were better off with Sammy Hagar. (Roth was a twat. Maybe still is.?) Even if that music ain’t to your liking. That solo in Beat it is enough to be remember by.

RIP Eddie.

Re: Eddie Van Halen Hovis
Was working with Van Halen in late '70s. Got thrown off the Tower of London by a couple of Beefeaters who got moody because the band were dressed in Coldstream Guards uniforms.

Good Blokes.

RIP Eddie

not a fan of any of their line-ups, but I do appreciate his guitar playing

Re: Eddie Van Halen Hovis
Sad news.

Bloke was a savant / genius.

Sadly, he helped invent ubercunts like Vai, Satriani and a billion worst-ever LA shitebands. With no style or humour.

I may even regress and listen to Fair Warning. RIP, Edward.

I'll second that - whatever you think of MJ, the way that guitar solo just rips out of the speakers is still magic.

RIP Eddie.

Re: Eddie Van Halen Hovis
Roth was a twat? Of course he was! But he was a "rock star".

And Van Halen died as a band the day Roth left*. I can't even name a VH song post 1984. All shit, probably.
